Milan Fashion Week

Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli

Here are some of our favourites from Milan Fashion Week. The Italian fashion capital was head to toe in prints, rather then the pops of colour we saw in London and New York. Prada kept it simple with very classic feminine looks, while Dolce and Gabbana had Carmen Miranda-esq prints on practially every outfit down the runway. We loved some of the more subtle pieces from them, and how precious are those bloomers. The stand out collection for us was Roberto Cavalli. Usually very animal print heavy we found this foray down the runway very elegant. Dont get us wrong there was definitely his classic animal prints, but we loved his black and gold evening wear. Absolutely to die for!

London Fashion Week

Mulberry, Burberry, Matthew Williamson, Paul Smith

The bright pops of colour from NYFW crossed the pond for London Fashion Week last week. The collections shown were very wearable, featuring brilliant hues of burnt orange, sunshine yellow and teal. We loved the additional of khaki green and all the blush skin tones shown on blouses and full maxi skirts. And dont forget more midi skirts in both neutrals and brights. We absolutely love the direction for spring 2012, its the perfect pop of sunshine to keep us excited and get us through the next few months of cold weather. Stay tuned next week for our coverage from Milan.

TopShop Arrives In Vancouver

For you Vancouverites who haven't made it down to the new TopShop location at The Bay Downtown, here is the low down. TopShop opened a capsule collection in the Bay Downtown last week. It is very small with limited styles, but what we saw we liked. Lots of really cute and trendy pieces typical of TopShop. For those of you familiar with the British store you will find the prices a little higher due to the canadian dollar and the importing costs, but still really great cheap prices ($72 sweaters, $90 dresses, $56 tops). It looked like they picked pieces right on trend for fall, featuring mustard coloured pants, navy polka-dots and Winter Kate- esq floral wraps. Our only disappointment was the lack of accessories. Originally described as a capsule collection featuring clothing, shoes and accessories, we found only 2-3 pairs of shoes and a bag along side the clothing. Although we found nothing that tickled our fancy this time we are definitely excited for its arrival and look forward to 2012 when the full sized store opens.
What do you guys think of TopShops introduction to Vancouver?

Look of the Week

We love this look posted by Refinery 29 at New York Fashion Week. Mustard is a hot colour that has been creeping it's way in for the past few seasons, and will only get more popular. It's a very hard colour to pull off, but this maven has the perfect skin tone to do so. Plus we love her pop of colour with that gorgeous red bag.

Farewell to D&G

Dolce and Gabbana sent their very last D&G collection down the runway this week during Milan Fashion Week. The duo have decided to close down D&G, a line that is financially very successful for them. The plan seems to be to focus on Dolce and Gabbana, while adding elements of D&G in for one big collection instead of the two. Rumors of this were heard back in May, but it came as a shock when the announcement was sent out right after the runway show.

The Perfect Looks For Fall: Ladies

Here are some of our favourite looks for fall featuring: maxi skirts, silky tie blouses, red pants and hats. Get inspired and create your perfect look for fall.

We Heart: Ben Sherman

How amazing is the model from Ben Sherman's Fall 2011 campaign? He looks like he time- travelled out of the 1900s as a private detective with that mustache. He adds the perfect look to a fantastic collection this season, featuring cozy sweaters layered with awesome coloured bottoms.

Sneak Peak: Left On Houston Holiday

Here is a little sneak peak of the Holiday collection from Left On Houston.  Don't spend all your pennies now or you'll miss out on these gems. We especially love the navaho-esq poncho, how perfect would that be to keep you cozy this fall.

How To: Red Pants

We love this seasons trend of red pants. They add the perfect amount of colour to any outfit.  To stay chic while wearing them add a loose silky blouse, and a great pair of black ankle boots. We can't wait to get our hands on the Rachel Mara skinnies, featured top row/middle- get them at moulestores.com come mid october.

NYFW Round Up

New York Fashion Week S/S 2012 has come and gone. And although we felt the runway seemed a little on the safe side for spring, we are thrilled with the continuation of colour from fall. We saw more of it and brighter shades, with fantastic pops of colour ranging from royal blue, kelly green and neon orange. A vintage vibe was picked up in many of the collections, ranging from the Great Gatsby's 1920s at Ralph Lauren, to a 60s beach vacay with Alice and Olivia. Here are some of our favorite looks and trends from NWFW. Stay tuned for our coverage of London fashion week next week.

A Pop of Colour:
Cut 25, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Steven Allen, DVF
Bright colours were everywhere, mixing and matching them together for a vibrant pop. We saw everything from bright blue, coral, green and orange to a mixture of sherbets

The Pastel Trouser:
Adam, Philip Lim, Ralph Lauren, Sachin and Babi
One of the most common silhouettes at NYFW was the pastel coloured trouser. This high-waisted full leg pant was seen all over the place in every colour imaginable.

The White Out Continues:
The Row, Philip Lim, DVF

Although colour was a staple for the spring runway, almost every collection featured white. It was strong for fall and looks like it isn't going anywhere. Some designers, like The Row, showed a collection with over half of it in all white.

Runways Best:
Marc by Marc Jacobs, Milly, Steven Allen, Jcrew, Sachin and babi
We loved these looks from the runway, full of colour and fun prints.

But our Favourite collection this go around was the pan am inspired collection from Alice and Olivia. It was Full of flirty silhouettes and colour, taking us on a trip back to the 1960s.

For the Boys

Here are some of our fav looks for the boys from New York Fashion Week. Showing lots of colour and prep we cant wait for spring. Among our favorites were Marc by Marc Jacobs and Jcrew. So, our question for all the boys is: will you wear a kelly green suit next spring?

Accessories Crush: Caged In

How amazing is the cage bag? Snapped up by fashion bloggers on the streets at NYFW, we couldn't help but fall in love.

Get Spotted

We couldn't help but notice how spots are showing up everywhere and on everyone. One of the biggest street trends at New York Fashion Week was leopard print.  It was spotted on the runway with the likes of Betsy Johnson, and on the streets in clothes, shoes, bags and accessories. We've never been huge fans of the animal print but those spotted shorts are a must have!

Street Style at NYFW

The best dressed were out if full force last week for New York Fashion Week. Here are some of our favourite street stylings snapped by the best of the best.

Falls must have shoes: the ankle boot

Ankle boots have officially invaded as fall's must have shoe.  The perfect bootie for any outfit, whether its a pair of skinny jeans, or a cute mid length skirt paired with some socks. With every style and colour available its your pick: leather or suede, neutral or bright, heel or wedge, mary janes or oxfords; the choices are endless. Our favorite style for this season is the wood sole, it adds a dramatic flare to a shoe we will be seeing a lot of.

Accessories Crush: the claw

rachel leigh- $99, house of harlow 1960 $95, Katie diamond $494, rachel leigh $125

We adore these oversized cocktail rings. The gold claw wrapping its way around an oversized gem is truly stunning. Available from almost everyone, in every colour imaginable, the hunt for your perfect one is on!

Sneak Peak- fall 2011 urban outffiters catelogue

News: John Galliano found guilty

A Paris court has found John Galliano guilty of public insults today. He has luckily escaped jail time, which could have been up to 6 months, but is required to pay fines and cover court fees. We truly hope the designer can put this behind him and make a comeback truly worthy of this great talent.
